The Barcelona East School of Engineering (EEBE) Open in a new window began the academic year with about 3,500 bachelor’s, master's and doctoral degree students and 400 professors and researchers. Located at the intersection of the streets Sant Ramon de Penyafort and Eduard Maristany, the EEBE is the heart of the new Diagonal Besòs Campus, which lies in a developing area between Barcelona and Sant Adrià de Besòs.

The EEBE aims to become a top-quality academic centre in the field of engineering for 21st-century industry that is capable of acting as an agent of transformation at a local and international level. The EEBE was born from the Barcelona College of Industrial Engineering (EUETIB)—a former school on Carrer Urgell that belonged to the Barcelona School of Industry Consortium until it became part of the UPC—and from part of the teaching and research activity in chemical and materials engineering hitherto carried out at the Barcelona School of Industrial Engineering (ETSEIB) Open in a new window.
